One of Celtic Connections’ most enduring and beloved institutions, Transatlantic Sessions celebrates its 20th edition. Once again they draw deep on the kindred traditions of Scotland, Ireland and the US, while continuing to break new ground. First-time guest singers line up alongside returning favourites; centuries-old songs and tunes interweave with original material, and the time-honoured session-style format consistently delivers fresh collaborative magic.

Among the vocal cast, Martha Wainwright puts a unique, fearlessly cathartic stamp on her family’s tradition of chronicling life through song. 2021’s fifth album, Love Will Be Reborn, eloquently charts her journey through loss and divorce towards hope and healing. “What an extraordinary artist Martha Wainwright is.” (The Independent)
With a new solo LP reportedly in the works, Hothouse Flowers frontman Liam Ó Maonlai is one of Irish music’s most compelling performers, channelling influences from sean nós to classic soul.
Revered Capercaillie vocalist Karen Matheson followed up 2015’s all-Gaelic release Urram with Still Time in 2021, an exquisite collection of traditional and contemporary songs in Scots and English.
Following huge acclaim for Amythyst Kiah’s 2021 sophomore release Wary + Strange, 2022 saw her opening for The Who on their North American tour. “A masterful blend of lonesome folk and neo-blues” (Rolling Stone)
Allison de Groot & Tatiana Hargreaves are both leaders in the young generation of roots musicians. Their self-titled debut album earned the duo the Independent Music Awards “Best Bluegrass Album” and a nomination from IBMA for “Best Liner Notes of the Year.”
As ever, the show’s über-seasoned house band – most of them Transatlantic Sessions stalwarts, helmed by joint masters of ceremonies Aly Bain and Jerry Douglas - is a crème-de-la-crème selection of Celtic and Americana roots talent, including Phil Cunningham, John Doyle, Michael McGoldrick, John McCusker, Donald Shaw, James Mackintosh and Daniel Kimbro.

The stalls of the Main Hall and New Hall are equipped with induction loop systems, but operation is dependent on each individual event or performance, so provision can vary. Wheelchair access
Wheelchair access is from the Killermont Street entrance (North Entrance) only. From this entrance, there is Lift access to all levels.

Cafe or restaurant
Full table service is not available, food or drinks are ordered from the service counter. However, food and drinks can be brought to the table.
There is not a lowered section at the counter.
No tables are permanently fixed. No chairs are permanently fixed. Some chairs have armrests.
Drinking straws are available.
Menus are hand held and wall mounted. Menus are not available in Braille. Menus are not available in large print. Picture menus are not available.

At times, Glasgow Life will be on the premises to film and take photos.
The public are only permitted to record and take photos where explicit permission has been granted in advance.
Free wifi
Yes, there is free public Wifi access. To connect, visitors have to register with the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall Public Wifi which should pop up on their browser. After that visitors will only need their password for future uses.
