Two of Scottish folk music’s most distinctive contemporary artists take to the stage together to perform brand-new arrangements of their respective repertoires. Backed by no less than the Scottish Chamber Orchestra with music arranged by John Ashton Thomas and Paul Campbell, who will also be conducting tonight’s performance, they will be further joined by some special guest musicians.
Between her 2011 debut EP The Bothy Sessions and her latest album Tied to the Moon, Rachel Sermanni has expanded her range from gothic-hued indie-folk into rockier, grungier dimensions, unified by poetically stirring songcraft and singular vocal potency. Alongside his long-fêted prowess on uilleann pipes and whistles, Jarlath Henderson’s 2016 debut album Hearts Broken, Heads Turned won him major acclaim as a gifted and innovative song interpreter.
Supported through the Scottish Government’s Festivals Expo Fund.
