Portrait of the Composer Mozart: Difficult Genius, Recital with The Fauré Quartet

City Halls : Recital Room

This event is part of Portrait of the Composer

Making their Scottish debut, the Fauré Quartet are a find. Four young musicians from Berlin who have built an international following for the relatively overlooked piano quartet repertoire. There is no shortage of great works – it is just that you do not often find this line-up of excellent players dedicating themselves to it. They have caught the ear of such distinguished arbiters of musical taste as Marthe Argerich who said: “Anyone who heard the Fauré Quartet perform will want to hear it again.”

Well, here is your chance. Pairing both of Mozart’s quartets is an idea of easy genius – they are such brilliant works in their own rights, but hearing them together reveals yet further Mozart’s immense range and skill. They will slip in a little early Mahler too, but this afternoon belongs to Mozart.
