The Acoustic Affair presents Gillian Christie with guests
Friday 10th September 2010, 8.00pm
City Halls : Recital Room
Gillian Christie, a 19-year-old singer/songwriter from East Kilbride who composes mellow, catchy folk/pop songs, has already made a name for herself playing over Scotland in the past two years.
Gillian started playing music when she picked up the guitar at 14, and wrote, recorded and produced her debut ep Thinking Space: Part 1 at the age of 18. Gillian has quickly gained an underground following throughout Glasgow, and has quickly become a must see on Glasgow’s acoustic music scene due to her striking voice and guitar playing that has drawn comparisons from live audiences to Eva Cassidy.
While admittedly a lofty comparison, Gillian has been playing away happily on Glasgow’s underground scene as everyone’s favourite musical secret, despite appearances on multiple local radio stations as well as playing a live set on Clyde 2, allowing her to follow her other passion for art attending the Glasgow School of Art.
2010 is proving to be the year Christie comes to the forefront of Scotland’s live music scene with the release of Thinking Space: Part 1 on the 10th September at the Recital Room, as well as a slot at this year’s Wickerman Festival and a soon to be announced Scottish tour thereafter.
Joining Gillian will be special guests New Town Tryptych and Huevo & the Giant.
