An author of contemporary fiction, Maggie O’Farrell released her debut novel, After You’d Gone, to great critical acclaim and the prize of a Betty Trask Award. Maggie’s latest novel, The Hand that First Held Mine, is a tightly woven story of love and motherhood telling the tale of two women separated in time but inextricably closely linked.

As the former Deputy Literary Editor of the Independent on Sunday, she is known for the characteristic bravery, passion and intelligence in her writing.
