Following on from the public lecture on the life, work and musical connections of Einstein at 5.15pm, this recital combines the talents of violinist Jack Liebeck and pianist Katya Apekisheva.
Jack Liebeck has established a reputation as one of Europe’s most exciting young musicians, performing both as a concerto soloist and chamber musician, and is Artistic Director of the Oxford May Music Festival. Pianist Katya Apekisheva, has a number of prizes to her name and a wide-ranging international career, performing with many of the world’s great orchestras and conductors, such as Sir Simon Rattle and Alexander Lazarev.
Professor Brian Foster will introduce the concert with some brief words on Einstein’s musical life and views, which will be reflected in the programme of the recital. Einstein worshipped Mozart and was also the first Chairman of the Ernest Bloch society, and pieces by both composers will be performed tonight.
