Scottish author and former Herald journalist Margaret Macaulay discusses her intriguing book The Prisoner of St Kilda – the astonishing true story of Lady Grange, who was kidnapped and imprisoned on the remote island in 1732 at the command of her husband, Lord Grange, Scotland’s Lord Justice Clerk.
Extensively researched, the work sheds light on the characters of both husband and wife, as well as the attitude towards headstrong women at that time, and successfully unravels a tale previously lost to the ages.
