Greater love hath no man…
Come along this Valentine’s Day for a celebration of love in all its forms, though words, opera and song. A host of international and Scottish artists will perform favourite songs from the worlds of opera, the West End and the West Coast of Scotland, including; My Love is Like a Red Red Rose, Casta Diva, Soldier Lad, Some Enchanted Evening, Mozart’s Laudate Dominum, Un bel di Madama Butterfly, Bess You Is My Woman Now and many more… plus a few surprises!
Introduced by Reporting Scotland’s Sally McNair, performers include the Clydebank Male Voice Choir, the University of Glasgow’s Chapel Choir and the Academy Brass from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. Also performing will be well known sopranos Judith Howarth and Christina Dunwoodie; Scottish mezzos Fiona MacDonald and Linda Finnie; one of Scotland’s three tenors, Jamie MacDougall, of Caledon, and baritone Julian Tovey, all accompanied by Derek Clark, Head of Music at Scottish Opera.
This concert is in support of The Mark Wright Project, a charity set up in memory of Corporal Mark Wright GC, who was killed in action in an attempt to save the lives of other injured soldiers. The charity supports ex-service men and women, and the bereaved families of those who have been killed, to overcome not just the visible but the invisible wounds of war.
