Boston-based alternative bluegrass band Crooked Still are on a mission to bend the boundaries of traditional music.

Consisting of vocalist Aoife O’Donovan, banjo player Dr Gregory Liszt, bassist Corey Di Mario, cellist Tristan Clarridge and fiddler Brittany Haas, they are known for their high energy, technical skill, unique instrumentation and innovative acoustic style.

Emily Smith – voted “Scots Singer of the Year 2008/09” at the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards – is recognised not only as one of Scotland’s finest interpreters of traditional song but also as a talented songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, and as The Guardian commented: “Smith deserves to become yet another new folk celebrity”.
