Two summer evening performances in the magnificent Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum
Join the RSNO for a magical evening in the wonderful surroundings of Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum this September. Revel in the rare opportunity to explore the exhibits at night before enjoying the sound of Scotland’s national orchestra resonate throughout the great hall.
Bringing to mind the impressive art and animal collections of Kelvingrove, Debussy’s impressionistic and tranquil Prélude à l’après-midi d’un Faune (Prelude to Afternoon of a Faun) is followed by Respighi’s enchanting Gli uccelli (The Birds). Based on music from the 18th Century, this lighthearted suite features the song of the dove, hen, nightingale and cuckoo.
The highlight of the evening lies in the finale, when celebrated organist Michael Bawtree joins the Orchestra for a performance of Saint-Saëns’ Organ Symphony No3; a glorious masterpiece with unforgettable melodies.
