American James Gaffigan replaces Sir Charles Mackerras as conductor in this closing concert of the SCO’s 2010/11 season, following his death on 14th July 2010. Gaffigan makes his SCO debut in an all-Mozart programme including the Requiem, Symphony No.41 (Jupiter) and the Overture to The Magic Flute. Gaffigan worked together with Sir Charles on the 2010 Glyndebourne Festival production of Mozart’s Cosi fan tutte, sharing the run of performances which were to be Sir Charles’ last conducting engagements.
