To coincide with the Europe Jazz Network’s visit to Glasgow for their annual General Assembly, Glasgow Jazz Festival in association with Jazz Services has put together a showcase of the very best of current British jazz bands.
This concert will feature:
Phil Bancroft’s Home, Small As The World
New multi media project by one of Scotland’s most inventive musicians. Home collides music, visual image and communications “an adventurous and imaginative success **** “ (The Scotsman)
Rhythmica
Formed from members of Tomorrow’s Warriors, Rhythmica perform originals, hard swinging music and arrangements of modern jazz classics.
The George Burt/Raymond MacDonald Group
Burt/MacDonald line up combines breezy melodies, beautiful, waltzing, folkish songs, reflective spacious compositions and joyous celebratory free jazz.
Paul Towndrow’s Newology
Saxophonist Paul Towndrow plays music with wit, strong melodies and commitment. ” A turbo-charged amalgam of your saxophone heroes” (The Guardian)
Trio VD
Firey Leeds-based trio specializing in fast, tight compositions, uninhibited improv and machine-gun drumming. With white hot energy and wild creativity ” this band is a must see live” (Time Out)
