Love Is The Way, Eddi Reader’s seventh solo album, to be released in April 2009, marks another milestone in her wide-ranging career, which began with 1980s chart-toppers Fairground Attraction and has since seen her recognised as one of Scotland’s all-time great song interpreters.
A magical new mixture including songs written with her long time writing partner Boo Hewerdine, her life partner John Douglas (The Trashcan Sinatras), songs from Irish singer/songwriter Declan O’Rourke, Dublin songwriter Jack Maher and Edinburgh based Sandy Wright, and a rare Brian Wilson composition.
From the traditional to the contemporary, Eddi brings to joyous life all forms of song. Whilst the perfection of her technique is widely acknowledged, what sets her apart is the depth and quality of the emotional performance; her ability not only to move the listener but to connect her experience to that of her audience. With her rare blend of meltingly true vocals and towering romanticism she has effortlessly developed into one of popular music’s most thrilling and affecting performers.
