A host of celebrities and artists from the worlds of music, dance, comedy and theatre are coming together for a glittering inaugural event in the showbiz calendar, the Scottish Royal Variety Performance.
Acts for this performance are still being announced but we can reveal that artists confirmed as appearing include DANIEL BEDINGFIELD, Dougie MacLean, Scottish composer Craig Armstrong, known for his Moulin Rouge and Romeo and Juliet scores, Singers and the Orchestra of Scottish Opera and their orchestra, Sandi Thom, The Red Hot Chilli Pipers, Soweto Gospel Choir, acrobats The Peres Brothers, Scottish indie band Frightened Rabbit, silk artist Robert Foxall from Zippos Circus, b-boy crew the Flyin Jalapenos, the Scottish Rhythmic Gymnastics and comedian Danny Bhoy.
The event is in aid of The Royal Blind School Appeal and artists will be performing in the presence of His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester and His Grace The Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry. This will be an evening of glamour and entertainment which will include the very best of musicians, entertainers, comedians, dancers, authors and poets, with a focus on artists who have Scottish connections, and will be hosted by Tam Cowan and Jenni Falconer. The evening will follow the format of the Royal Variety Performance – a prestigious red carpet occasion that will be televised.
For more information on all these artists and to keep up to date with any new announcements please go to http://www.srvp.co.uk/content/default.asp?page=s1_6
Please note The Sugababes will no longer headline the inaugural Scottish Royal Variety Performance. Unavoidable legal issues surrounding their recent well publicised line up changes mean that the band will be unable to perform at the event which is being held on Thursday 8th of October in Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall.
