Described as a songwriter who is able to work his melodic gifts and distinctive lyricism through any of the myriad musical traditions that catches his fancy, Ray LaMontagne’s new album touches upon a range of styles and musical settings, spanning pastoral folk, railroad blues, front porch country, and plangent balladry. Gossip In The Grain follows Trouble and Til the Sun Turns Black.

One of the fastest rising stars in the world of folk this lauded American folk singer/songwriter has won a number of awards for his music, including three Boston Music Awards in 2005 and a nomination for Best International Breakthrough Act at the Brit Awards in 2007. Critics have compared LaMontagne’s music to that of The Band, Van Morrison, Nick Drake, and Tim Buckley.

He is a natural-born songwriter who seems to have fallen out of the skies above New England armed with a sackful of classic songs. (The Guardian)
