Scotland’s Classical Music Party!
For over fifty years the RSNO’s Scottish ‘Last Night of the Proms’ has been one of the biggest nights in the classical calendar, a chance for Scotland’s favourite Orchestra and Chorus to let its hair down and celebrate the start of summer with a fantastic blend of classical favourites and traditional Scottish songs and anthems.
As always, the programme, conducted by Maestro Martin Yates, is packed with classical and choral favourites including Verdi’s Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves from Nabucco and Grand March from Aida, Hamish MacCunn’s exciting overture, Land of the Mountain and Flood and Tchaikovsky’s spectacular March Slave.
In this special year of Homecoming the RSNO is delighted to welcome one of Scotland’s most celebrated folk musicians, Dougie MacLean, whose chart-topping Caledonia is the official Homecoming Scotland theme.
And, joining the RSNO and RSNO Chorus for the traditional saltire-waving, sing-a-long, patriotic finale (including, of course, Flower of Scotland and Auld Lang Syne) will be the 15 times World Pipe Band Champions, The House of Edgar Shotts and Dykehead Pipe Band.
