RSNO - The 10:11 Season Great Symphonies: Sibelius Six and Seven

Glasgow Royal Concert Hall : Main Auditorium

Please Note: This is a past event event.

Don't worry we have plenty more current events to choose from.

Scotland loves Sibelius – and Kristjan Järvi! Perhaps in part because he always conducts an interesting and unpredictable programme. Tonight, Sibelius’ majestic final symphony is paired with its rarer predecessor, the lyrical, elusive Sixth. Expect insights aplenty – and genuine magic – plus a generous dose of real emotional power, as violinist Mikhail Simonyan performs one of the most devastating of all 20th century violin concertos, Shostakovich’s First.

6.45pm Pre-concert talk with Katherine Wren (RSNO Viola)
