Don't worry we have plenty more current events to choose from.
What better way to close a celebration of Czech music than Janácek’s glorious Sinfonietta, with its huge line-up of brass, including no fewer than 12 trumpets! This spectacular piece is offset by the more restrained beauty of Dvorák’s poetic Legends. Completing our series of Martinu piano concertos, one of America’s finest pianists joins Ilan Volkov for a rare performance of Incantations, with its irresistible combination of dreamy lyricism and driving energy.
6.15pm Pre-Concert Prelude (in the Recital Room): Stephen Johnson discusses the musical worlds of Dvorák and Janácek.
Post-Concert Coda (approximately 10 minutes after the end of the main concert): A sextet from the BBC SSO performs a suite from Martinu’s jazz ballet, La revue de cuisine.
This concert is part of the BBC SSO’s Bohemian Rhapsodies series.
