Mark-Anthony Turnage is one of the most admired and performed British composers of his generation.

In this Composer Portrait concert for BBC Radio 3’s Hear and Now, the BBC SSO gives the first performance of Five Views of a Mouth, a BBC Commission for the orchestra and flautist Dietmar Wiesner, which Turnage composed especially for performance in the Old Fruitmarket. Also in the programme are two short works by one of Turnage’s teachers, Oliver Knussen. The evening ends with the European Premiere of From All Sides, first performed in Chicago in 2007.
