An evening celebrating Norwegian musical talent, with a concert featuring virtuoso Norwegian pianist Leif Ove Andsnes and The Norwegian Chamber Orchestra. The programme will feature Grieg’s spectacular Holberg Suite.

An international star for 15 years, The New York Times has described Andsnes as “the most accomplished pianist of the new generation” while The Times has referred to his playing as “meltingly sensitive and fiercely transporting”.

One of Norway’s cultural mainstays, the NCO’s international breakthrough came with the 1979 release of Grieg’s complete works for string orchestra. Andsnes also famously toured the US with the NCO, playing and conducting Mozart from the keyboard and The Observer hailed him as “the perfect 21st-century ambassador for Mozart.”

The orchestra has guested many of the world’s most distinguished concert halls, often together with some of the world’s most renowned musicians. Guest artists have included James Galway, Joshua Bell and Angela Hewitt.

…what truly marked their work was the sense of excitement, which leapt off the stage. (The New York Times)
