The St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, whose last appearance was described as having a “big crowd, phenomenal atmosphere and a concert in a thousand” by The Herald, return to The Hall under the conductor Yuri Simonov, the current Music Director of the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra.
As well as performing Elgar’s most famous orchestral work, the Enigma Variations, the Orchestra will be joined by acclaimed pianist Dmitri Alexeev for Tchaikovsky’s immensely popular Piano Concerto No.1.
Siminov is the current conductor of the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra and highlights of Alexeev’s current season include performances at the Leeds International Recital Series, of which he is Artistic Director, as well as a return to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
