Tindersticks
Sunday 5th October 2008, 7.30pm
City Halls : Grand Hall

A rock band from Nottingham, the distinctive sound of Tindersticks is characterised by a synthesis of orchestral backing, lounge jazz, and soul; the lush orchestrations of multi-instrumentalist Dickon Hinchliffe and the smoky baritone of lead vocalist Stuart Staples are the band’s hallmarks.
The Hungry Saw, the first Tindersticks album in five years, finds the newly stripped-down band, consisting of the three original members: vocalist Stuart, guitarist Neil Fraser and keyboard player David Boulter, sounding not only hungry but lean and thrilled again. The grand melancholy and gentle humour are still abundantly present, but there’s a renewed energy, an appetite for spontaneity.
