Des canyons aux étoiles (From the Canyons to the Stars) is one of the great works of the 20th century, and amounts to a distillation of all Messiaen’s methods, with major solo parts for piano, horn and percussion. In the centenary year of the composer’s birth, conductor and former pupil of Messiaen, George Benjamin, leads the BBC SSO through this amazing musical landscape. Don’t miss one of the major artistic events of the year.
