BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra: Discovering Music

Monday 9th March 2009, 2.00pm

City Halls : Grand Hall

Please Note: This is a past event event.

Don't worry we have plenty more current events to choose from.

In each edition of Discovering Music, guest presenters, conductors and experts join the BBC SSO to give a fascinating and entertaining insight into some great masterworks. Benjamin Britten met cellist Mistlav Rostropovich at the premiere of Shostakovich’s cello concerto. A friendship was forged between composer and soloist, along with a whole catalogue of cello works, including the Cello Symphony which marked Britten’s return to symphonic writing.

Please note this event will be recorded for broadcast in BBC Radio 3’s weekly series Discovering Music. Children under 12 are not admitted.
