Stravinsky’s most extraordinary achievement, Le Sacre du Printemps (The Rite of Spring) is one of the most influential scores of the last century, and though it will be a hundred years old in a few years time, it still packs a huge punch.
In Ilan Volkov’s dynamic hands it promises to be one of the most electric musical experiences of the season. Coupled with the rarely-heard original original version of Rachmaninov’s Fourth Concerto, played by one of today’s outstanding piano virtuosos, it makes this concert an absolute must for Glasgow music lovers!
This concert will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 3
6:15pm Pre-concert prelude (in the Recital Room): Stephen Johnson with Ashley Page, Artistic Director of Scottish Ballet, on music and dance in Le Sacre du Printemps.
