Glasgow International Jazz Festival Peter King
Friday 27th June 2008, 7.30pm
City Halls : Recital Room
Please Note: This is a past event event.

Peter King is, in the words of one critic, "the finest alto saxophonist that Britain has ever produced, and one of the finest in the world today" (Dave Gelly, 'The Giants of Jazz', Aurum Press, 1986). He has been a major influence on the British Jazz scene ever since he played, (at the age of eighteen), the opening of Ronnie Scott's.
He is influenced by Be-Bop greats like Charlie Parker, and he was the only non-US artist invited to perform at the Gem Theatre in Kansas City during a week of celebrations in honour of the great man in March 1999. The line-up comprises Adam Sorensen (drums), Peter King (alto sax), Martin Zenker (double bass) and Paul Kirby (piano).
Please note that Peter King is replacing Herb Geller, who is unable to perform at the Glasgow International Jazz Festival due to illness.
