Fruitmarket Folk: Lúnasa
Friday 16th May 2008, 9.30pm
Old Fruitmarket

A welcome return for the Irish stars who opened the newly refurbished Old Fruitmarket with a spectacular sell-out performance as part of Celtic Connections in 2006.
"Lúnasa's musicianship is awesome" I'd sell my soul to be able to play like that" Mojo.
As one of the most sought after bands on the international Irish music scene, Lúnasa thrive on redefining the genre by going right to the heart of its rhythms.
Although distinctly Irish in flavour, their music touches on jazz and other improvisational music forms.
Lúnasa provide a melodic mix of wind and string instruments with Seán Smyth (fiddle), Kevin Crawford (flute), Trevor Hutchinson (bass), Paul Meehan (guitar) and Cillian Vallely (uillean pipes, whistles).
Currently in their eleventh successful year, their latest release The Story So Far showcases the energy, drive and fire for which the band are renowned.
Expect inventive arrangements and bass-driven grooves as the band steer Irish acoustic music into surprising new territory.
