Having originally had a varied and successful career in other fields including teaching, Alex Gray always had a long-held desire to be a writer.

Her motivation for crime writing is simple “I wrote a crime novel because I liked to read them”. That is not to say that she does not take her work seriously, as she researches her novels very carefully and utilises her own network of contacts in the legal profession to ensure authenticity.

Born and educated in Glasgow, Gray’s latest novel Pitch Black is a page-turning thriller featuring the existential DCI Lorimer which is steeped in the history and atmosphere of the city.

Alex has since been labelled “Glasgow’s answer to Ian Rankin” by The Good Book Guide.

“A welcome new member of the Tartan Noir pack” (Val McDermid) will uncover the mysteries behind her latest dark page-turner novel.
