BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra: Thursday Night Series: The Symphonic Collection: Berlioz, Symphonie Fantastique
Thursday 19th February 2009, 7.30pm
City Halls : Grand Hall

The BBC SSO’s Chief Conductor-elect Donald Runnicles conducts a programme that celebrates orchestral brilliance across two centuries.
Edinburgh-born Runnicles has a hugely successful career on both sides of the Atlantic, and he opens this concert with a typically extrovert piece by the most successful American composer of recent years, and closes it with one of the most amazing and influential orchestral works of the 19th century.
In Ravel’s Concerto for the Left Hand, he is joined by Adam Golka, another talented young American.
6:45pm Pre-concert prelude (in the Recital Room): Gavin Reid, Director BBC SSO, in conversation with Donald Runnicles
Post-concert coda (approximately 10 minutes after main concert): Adam Golka plays Chopin’s Fantaisie in F minor, Op.49
