After 30 iconic years as half of “the straightest rhythm section in rock”, former Rolling Stones’ bassist Bill Wyman has now been letting the good times roll in company with the Rhythm Kings, the moveable all-star feast of vintage virtuosos he formed in 1997, to play the kind of classic rhythm and blues that first inspired him to pick up the guitar as a teenager.

Blues, soul and old-time rock’n’roll also feature in the mix, performed with impeccable chops by a glittering line-up that tonight includes guitar legend Albert Lee and ex-Dr Hook vocalist Dennis Locorriere, together with Beverley Skeete (vocals), Geraint Watkins (piano), Graham Broad (drums/keyboards), Nick Payn (saxophone), Frank Mead (saxophone) and the band’s co-founder Terry Taylor (guitar).

Jeff Lang, an Australian songwriter, singer and virtuoso slide guitarist is a leading performer in the Australian roots style, which incorporates primarily folk, blues and rock, his music is heavily influenced by the folk music of the southern United States as well as from the UK but has distinctly Australian lyrical content.

He plays various types of guitar, both slide and standard. Lang’s 1996 album Native Dog Creek was named Best Australian Blues Album in a Rhythms Magazine readers poll, as was his 2005 release You Have To Dig Deep To Bury Daddy and his 2002 collaboration with Bob Brozman won an ARIA award (Australia’s equivalent of a Grammy) for Best Blues and Roots Music album.

In June last year he was voted Best Act on the Acoustic Stage at Glastonbury and as ever tonight he will be accompanied on acoustic bass by Grant Cummerford.
