Scottish Chamber Orchestra Season 2008/09 The Legend of Prometheus

City Halls : Grand Hall

Compared with Haydn, Schubert and Mozart, Beethoven was quite a late starter at writing symphonies – he waited until he was into his 30s.

Before then he honed his skills on concertos, cantatas and theatre music.

The Prometheus ballet is as charming as it is substantial – containing all kinds of intriguing pointers to the future, not least the first appearance of a tune that later became famous in the ‘Eroica’ Symphony.
