Meet her in person and it is hard to believe Thea Musgrave is celebrating her 80th birthday.

What better way to mark it than with a new work? Points of View is her concerto for orchestra, giving individuals within the SCO a chance to shine as soloists.

Lindberg’s Violin Concerto is one of the most talked-about new works of recent years. It is paired with Mozart’s symphony because it was written for the Mostly Mozart Festival in New York with the express condition that it use exactly the same orchestral forces Mozart once did – and in this concert you’ll hear just how different they can sound.

6:30pm Pre-concert talk (free to ticket holders): Thea Musgrave talks to Svend Brown.
