BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra Thursday Night Series: Rachmaninov Symphonic Dances

City Halls : Grand Hall

Please Note: This is a past event event.

Don't worry we have plenty more current events to choose from.

Ravel’s La Valse is not so much a waltz as a painting of one – albeit one with an explosive, shattering climax. Equally exhilarating is Rachmaninov’s last work, the colourful Symphonic Dances; they are a powerful valediction, and a firm audience favourite.

In SnagS & Snarls, soprano Christiane Oelze sings Lewis Carroll’s verse in Unsuk Chin’s highly entertaining song cycle based on material from Alice in Wonderland.

Post-Concert Coda (approximately 10 minutes after main concert): Rosemary Eliot, principal flute BBC SSO, in a short solo recital of French music.

Tickets:  £21.50, £17.50, £15, £9
