In a stunning end to our International Classical Season, conductor Riccardo Chailly makes his first appearance in the city for 17 years. He brings with him the ever-popular Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and supreme violinist Leonidas Kavakos.
Chailly is key to the orchestra's success as he manages to embody tradition and change simultaneously. Having led some of the world's finest orchestras, his knowledge and experience is evident.
Guest soloist Kavakos has successfully established himself as one of the most sought after violinists with virtuosity, superb musicianship and integrity. He appears regularly with leading orchestras and in recital throughout the world.
An irresistible programme awaits, which closes with Tchaikovsky's heart-ripping autobiographical Fourth Symphony.
