Cracking the Enigma code…

It’s time to don those x-ray specs and enter once again into the incredible world of Naked Classics, the RSNO’s revolutionary concert series perfect for anyone who wants to explore the world’s greatest music. Presenter Paul Rissmann introduces each masterwork using innovative visuals, lighting effects, on-stage interviews and musical extracts from the Orchestra in the first half. Then sit back and enjoy the whole work played through in all its glory.

Sir Edward Elgar: as English as warm beer, cricket on the village green or cucumber sandwiches. But there is so much more to this pipe-smoking maestro who wrote the nation’s favourite classical work, blew up his shed during a home chemistry experiment and composed the musical equivalent of the Da Vinci Code… the Enigma Variations.

In the return of the outrageously popular Naked Classics series, Paul Rissmann and the RSNO players strip off the pomp and circumstance and grapple with Nimrod and co, using lighting and graphics that would have had Elgar’s Plus Fours in a twist!

I don’t know anything about classical music – it was my first time at a concert…I’ll definitely be back (another satisfied Naked Classics Newcomer, 2007)
