Clarinetist Michael Collins and London Winds sensitive musicianship is celebrated in a programme that includes a new Scottish Ensemble commission from Steve Martland, Eternity’s Sunrise alongside one of Mozart’s last works, the Clarinet Concerto and Stravinsky’s Concerto in D.

Eternity’s Sunrise

The title of this piece comes from lines by the visionary English poet William Blake:

He who binds to himself a joy
Does the winged life destroy;
But he who kisses the joy as it flies
Lives in eternity’s sunrise.

Steve Martland says:

I wanted to write a companion piece for Tiger Dancing, which was written for the choreographer Henri Oguike and his company. Although Eternity’s Sunrise was written for the concert hall rather than the theatre, dance is a pervasive feature of the music.

Steve Martland will also be in conversation with Gavin Reid at 6.45pm. This is free to ticket holders.

Tickets:  £14.50, £13.50
