The BBC SSO’s Associate Guest Conductor Stefan Solyom leads the BBC SSO through a programme that highlights its renowned wind section, as well as showcasing the playing of eminent oboist Nicholas Daniel in Richard Strauss’ concerto, The concert is preceded by a short recital by BBC SSO’s bassoon section, and Nicholas Daniel switches to Cor Anglais in the post-concert coda for a performance of Mozart’s Adagio.
Pre-concert Prelude 6.45pm: free to ticket holders. Julian Roberts, the BBC SSO’s principal bassoon, directs a performance of La Phénix for four bassoons by Michel Corette (1709-1795).
Post-concert Coda: free to ticket holders. Nicholas Daniel, cor anglais, directs a performance of his own arrangement for cor anglais and strings of Mozart’s Adagio K.580a
