Angela Hewitt plays Ravel’s sensual and dreamy concerto, which the BBC SSO’s Associate Guest Conductor Stefan Solyom complements with Sibelius’s First Symphony. The concert opens with the composer’s first foray into symphonic form, the dramatic tone poem Night-Ride and Sunrise: a galloping depiction of a nocturnal journey ending in a glorious sunrise.
Pre-Concert Prelude: Journalist and broadcaster Lynne Walker in conversation with the BBC SSO’s recently appointed Associate Guest Conductor, Stefan Solyom.
Post-Concert Coda: Angela Hewitt plays solo piano works by Ravel.
