Don't worry we have plenty more current events to choose from.

Ilan Volkov’s passion for Sibelius’s music promises memorable performances of both the enigmatic Fourth Symphony and the tempestuous musical valediction Tapiola, composed in 1926. Tapiola completed Sibelius’s series of tone poems and began his retreat into silence. One of Russia’s leading violinists, Ilya Gringolts demonstrates his virtuosity in Bartók’s breathtaking, folk-music influenced concerto.

Pre-Concert Prelude: Journalist and broadcaster Stephen Johnson examines the circumstances that led to Sibelius’s 30 year absence from orchestral writing, after completing the tone poem Tapiola.

Post-Concert Coda: Ilya Gringolts in a short recital including music for solo violin by Sibelius.
