International Classical Season Maxim Vengerov with the UBS Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra

Glasgow Royal Concert Hall : Main Auditorium

Please Note: This is a past event event.

Don't worry we have plenty more current events to choose from.

And now for something truly international! The world’s leading training orchestra for young musicians directed by the great Russian virtuoso, Maxim Vengerov.

In this performance the ensemble will be in the shape of The UBS Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra, composed of musicians and alumni from the symphony orchestra. With over 100 musicians aged 17 to 29 from some 30 countries, the symphony orchestra is the ‘Orchestra in Residence’ at the Verbier Festival in Switzerland every summer. They have played with many internationally acclaimed soloists including perhaps the most famous of them all, tonight’s director and soloist – Maxim Vengerov.

The Russian virtuoso continues to overshadow just about everyone else who ever picked up a violin bow. His ability to pack houses around the world and have audiences hanging on his every note is now referred to as the ‘Vengerov effect’.

We are delighted that this flagship cultural event will bring our Season to an emphatic close.
