Early this Season Thierry Fischer's concert paired a Haydn Mass with a Beethoven symphony; to close it Olari Elts directs a blockbuster sequel.

These two pieces were written in the first years of the 19th century and, with Beethoven inspired by Napoleon while Haydn praises Nelson, they find the two composers on opposing sides of the Napoleonic Wars.
