With special guest Miranda Sykes

Having barely had time to draw breath after their busiest year to date, Show of Hands are back by popular demand, following their sellout debut at Celtic Connections 2005. Famous for twice hiring and selling out the Albert Hall, the veteran duo of multi-instrumentalist Phil Beer and singer-guitarist Steve Knightley, who also writes most of their material, were named as Best Live Act at the 2004 Radio 2 Folk Awards – the only category decided by a public vote. As well as previewing songs from their forthcoming 14th album, due out this spring, the pair’s return Glasgow date will feature a selection of old favourites also chosen by fans, via an electronic poll to decide the set-list for that last marathon tour. “It’s always been our philosophy to involve our fans as much as possible in our plans,” Knightley says. Renowned for their rich, eloquent mix of international roots styles and timeless yet contemporary songwriting, Phil and Steve will be joined for this performance by the young singer and double bassist Miranda Sykes, who has previously proved a popular addition to the line-up.
