Dougie MacLean's Rural Image
Glasgow Royal Concert Hall : Main Auditorium
Please Note: This is a past event event.
Don't worry we have plenty more current events to choose from.
Building on his achievements at last year’s Celtic Connections, when he premiered his four-movement multimedia symphony Rural Image, the Bard of Dunkeld continues his musical odyssey with another new commission, Muir of Gormach, named after a stone circle lying off the beaten track in his beloved native Perthshire. Subtitled “A Pictish Story”, the piece will be performed by Ali Fergusson (vocals, electric and acoustic guitar), Alan Sutherland (keyboards, accordion, harmonium), Jamie MacLean (drums and percussion), Ross Ainslie (whistle, mandocello, pipes) and Chris Agnew (vocals, electric and acoustic bass), with Dougie himself leading from the front on vocals, acoustic guitar and fiddle. After the interval, there’s a second chance to see and hear Rural Image, which incorporates original music and song with dance choreographed by Andy Howitt (Y Dance), and an innovative set and lighting design complete with multimedia imaging.
