The International Classical Season Dame Felicity Lott & Sir Thomas Allen in recital

City Halls : Grand Hall

Please Note: This is a past event event.

Don't worry we have plenty more current events to choose from.

British singers Dame Felicity Lott and Sir Thomas Allen are both established stars of the great opera houses of the world and share a strong relationship with the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden where they have both sung countless roles. They have commanded the global vocal arena for nigh-on 30 years and in this recital we are given the chance to see why.

The liquid velvet baritone of Thomas Allen is still in great demand world-wide whether in an operatic role or for concert performances and Flott is one of Britain’s best-loved sopranos. Lott and Allen are models of how strong personalities can complement each other without diminishing themselves and with the peerless accompaniment of Malcolm Martineau added to the picture, a glory team will surely emerge. His stylish and flawless accompaniment is uncannily attuned to the singer, not so much framing the voice as becoming an extension of it.

This is a distinguished gathering of the best song interpreters in the business, performing a popular programme of entertainment including Mendelssohn, Mozart , Strauss, Berlin, Coward, Sondheim and Rodgers & Hammerstein.
