The RSNO Scottish Prom is the musical party of the year and the most enduringly popular night on the RSNO calendar. Join the orchestra, pipers, conductor Jeff Tyzik and Dame Evelyn Glennie Scotland’s global superstar percussionist for a fun-filled celebration of music.
Dame Evelyn will perform the UK premiere of Eric Ewazen’s Songs to the Banks of Ayr, a concerto for percussion inspired by three poems by Robert Burns. Mix an entertaining blend of the classics that we all know and love, stir in a selection of well-kent Scottish favourites, top-off with a patriotic frenzy of traditional Scots songs and dances and you’ve got the recipe for the perfect musical evening!
This concert is part of the RSNO’s brand new series of symphonic pops concerts, fresh for June 2010; three weeks of top-drawer musical entertainment with concerts packed with the most popular melodies and exciting symphonic selections from across the globe! Sensational American conductor Jeff Tyzik, renowned as one of America’s most innovative pops conductors, will be your guide, presenting a fabulous variety of your favourite pops and classics, set to the glorious sound of the RSNO.
