Saturday 16th May 2009, 7.30pm

Glasgow Royal Concert Hall : Main Auditorium

Please Note: This is a past event event.

Don't worry we have plenty more current events to choose from.

Denève conducts a popular and varied programme to bring the Season to a rousing conclusion.

The evening opens with Prokofiev’s exotic, raucous and hedonistic The Love for Three Oranges.

Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations, an elegant homage to Mozart, will draw a wide range of timbres and sounds from the cello of Grammy-nominated soloist Sol Gabetta.

Premiered on the same day in 1877 as Tchaikovsky’s Variations, Brahms’ Second is a most beautiful symphony; gentle, pastoral, cheerful and confident.

6:45pm Pre-concert talk with Michael Tumelty.
