Voyages and Dreams

Mendelssohn’s First Piano Concerto garnered instant praise, especially from Liszt, who went on to make the concerto his own in performance.

With its cascading chords and breathless runs it is easy to see why it became such a showpiece and why internationally-acclaimed pianist Stephen Hough is the natural choice for a piece of such beautiful virtuosity.

The incidental music to A Midsummer Night’s Dream is so light, so delicate and so magical that it is hard not to believe it the creation of one of Shakespeare’s faeries: a true testament to the musical genius of this most talented composer.

6:45pm Pre-concert talk with Ben Parry.

Tickets:  £32, £24, £17.50, £13, £10
