Please note that pianist Hélène Grimaud, who was orginally billed as this evening’s soloist, has cancelled due to ill health. Finnish pianist Antti Siirala will now perform Schumann’s Piano Concerto in her place.
Siirala was the 2003 winner of the prestigious Leeds International Piano Competition and is an established star on the international stage, having appeared with orchestras including the Detroit Symphony, BBC Symphony, Liverpool Philharmonic and Swedish National Orchestra.
His debut recording of Schubert transcriptions on the Naxos label received outstanding reviews and his recording of works by Brahms was Gramophone Magazine’s “Editor’s Choice”.
