From the opening whispered plea for eternal rest to the hair-raising cries for salvation, Verdi’s ‘Requiem’ is one of the crowning glories of the choral repertoire, an overwhelming appeal for forgiveness and divine redemption. Stéphane Denève leads an international cast of soloists, massed chorus and orchestra in this epic masterpiece.
