Sir Alexander Gibson Memorial Concert

Stéphane Denève is sure to set pulses racing with his account of Strauss’ Don Juan which graphically depicts the ardent adventures of the great lover as he seeks the perfect conquest. Coupled with this swashbuckling hero is Roussel’s Bacchus and Ariane – a symphonic epic told in pungent melodies and pulsating rhythms.

Pre-concert speaker: Jeremy Fletcher

This concert honours the artistic legacy of Sir Alexander Gibson, the SNO’s Music Director for nearly 25 years from 1959-1984. The RSNO has endowed the Music Director’s Chair in his name.
